I immediately went downstairs and started looking at my map to plan my days and see where I wanted to go to dinner. What I was really hoping for was to meet some people who would invite me to dinner. Well, where I was sitting that wasn't happening. I was given a coupon for a free beer when I arrived so I figured I would try the bar. I took my map down to the bar and got a beer and sat outside.
Two guys sat down next to me and they got talking and I thought to myself, I would need to be the one to talk to them.
I just casually asked them a question, we began talking and they were from Australia. Two others sat down with them and I moved over to their table.
THEN THEY INVITED ME TO DINNER to go to the HofbrÀuhaus.
I was so grateful they did that because I just had an amazing time. It turns out that they are apart of this bus tour so we met up with the tour guide and the rest of the people on the bus tour. It is a hop on hop off tour so they are constantly meeting new people from the tour wherever they go! It sounds like a very reasonable and great way to tour Europe. There were over 20 of us that walked into the restaurant! Most people were from Australia, a couple from Canada, and two girls from California who heard about this from an Australian. Australians are super nice and very welcoming!
I loved the hofbrauhaus! Tons and tons of people, everyone drinking 1 liter beer!
I sat at a table with 13 people. I had a wonderful dinner, pork knuckle slices with sauerkraut and dumplings!
It was so great just meeting new people and all people with the same mindset. They were all on the trip to meet new people, travel to awesome places, and drink good beer. It was pretty incredible.
There was an 8 person band that just lit the place up!
The servers were dressed in traditional German costumes and held 9, 1L beers! This is the Germany I wanted to see :)
I am already very glad I came here!
We continued on our way to some other bars with the big group. We ended up not finding a bar and just meandering around.
When I was doing some research before i came to Munich i remembered there was this bar very close to our hostel called cafe kosmos. I told the Australian boys, Robby and badger (yes his name is badger isn't that awesome!) about this bar but we didn't want to take the whole group. We split off and went our own way with only us three and the two American girls.
It was exactly what the Internet describes and exactly what we were looking for; cheap beer and very crowded with locals.
We went to bed early ish because we all had a busy day ahead of us. We plan to meet again tomorrow night at 7 at the 4 you hostel. Unfortunately I am moving hostels tonight but that won't be a problem.
It turned out to be an awesome night! Hostels are definitely the way to go when you are traveling alone.
