Bye, Budapest. Hello, Copenhagen

August 18 (happy bday Mrs. Niebler and uncle Ray)

I made a point to wake up early so I could be checked out and ready to see a bit more of the city before I had to head for the airport around noon.

Evan and I went to this yummy breakfast place for eggs and coffee. There was really nothing in particular I wanted to see before I left so we just decided to put away the map and walk.

We walked past Jewish synagogues and some old architectural buildings. Then we came across the coolest place I have been in Europe so far! (Maybe a bit of an exaggeration because I have seen some neat things) but I was in heaven. We walked by and it was an old ruin and it looked super interesting so we took a peak inside. I could have stayed all day long.

It was called Szimpla Design Café and it is the first ruin that put a bar in it, which started the trend and now they are around the world. This bar is also rated in the top 3 best bars in the world according to trip advisor. When we learned this we were pretty bummed we didn't come last night. But I'm just glad we ran across it today.

There is a farmers market every Sunday morning so there was so much going on. Fresh fruit, yummy sandwiches, coffee, and live music.

We just got a cup of cappuccino and sat down and enjoyed the surroundings.

Dad, will you help me open a café/bar like this!? Everything was just antiquey and thrifty and the ambience was so cozy and amazing! My house will either look like this someday or I will open a bar and decorate it like this! I was in love!

It was so great being with Evan too because he was super into it as well. He loved the feel and was taking pictures as often as me!  It's so hard to enjoy a place you love when the other person you are with doesn't appreciate it as much so I was glad! I think we just sat there and took pictures for about two hours. Evan also agreed to write his travel experience into my journal as well so he did it there.

Here are just a lot of pictures for you to get a feel of the place.

And I wonder why I have no more photo space on my phone!!!

It was such a great morning and now I don't want to leave Budapest. Today was the first day that I'm coming home soon definitely hit me. I feel so sad my travels are almost coming to an end. I also realized how great spontaneous plans are. My flight to Copenhagen today is the first concrete and definite plan I have had these past 2 weeks traveling alone. Evan is going to Croatia next and I want to go more than anything but now I have plans for the rest of my travels. Bummer, bummer!

I said goodbye to Evan and headed out to find the airport. The hostel gave great directions so it was easy but took about an hour. It was nice of Evan to give me some spare tickets he had for public transportation because the line to get tickets was so long so it saved me a lot of time.

Then began the frustrations of flying. I waited in line for an hour to check in and check my bag. By the time I was smart enough to just take my backpack off my whole back was wet and sweaty and my whole chest from my front backpack. It was horrible. Then I had to wait in another Line for the security check for about 30 min. It was a disorganized mess! By the time I got to my gate the plane was boarding.

I slept the whole ride and woke up to a lot of turbulence. It's a stormy day in Copenhagen so I get to wear my cozy sweaters again! Yay!!

Now I am at the airport waiting for Maren's plane to get in :) I cannot wait to see her again!!
