Smell of the sea shore

7.19.13

Today we traveled home to Marike's hometown, Esbjerg. We traveled from one side of Denmark to the other in an hour and a half. Denmark is so small, it is crazy!

We took a walk along the sea shore and I collected some pretty rocks.

As you all know, I love candles. But what I have loved about Denmark and Norway is they don't buy any scented candles. Only the large white ones that last forever and candle sticks. They just light them for no  specific occasion and it makes such a cozy ambiance. Marike has a pretty dish with three candles and rocks spread along the dish. I thought it would be cool to start collecting rocks from everywhere I go and do the same thing. I found some pretty ones in the mountains of Norway and now on the beach of Denmark!

Oh, and Marike told me if I find a rock with a hole, it symbolizes luck. I was determined to find one and I did as you can see in the picture above.

Marike's friend Anne came over for dinner and we made "wraps"/"Mexican pancakes"/"tortillas". Aka soft shell tacos. They still will not call it tacos (even though they used taco seasoning). "tacos are only with hard shells". Crazy Danes :)

You can decide for yourself what our dinner is called...

I am exhausted from last night so I am going to sleep and it is still light as day outside. We have a long soccer/party day ahead of us tomorrow on a small island which sounds like is the party of the year for everyone in Esbjerg.

I said goodnight and my favorite Danish word,"knus", which means hugs and Anne said a phrase that I really like, "thank you for the day".
