4:30- tried to catch the bus to the airport but not only did we need the ticket, we needed a boarding pass from inside the bus station. They told us to take our luggage off the bus and we would have to wait for the next one.
4:50- thank goodness one was coming 20 minutes later
6:00- stood in line at the Ryan air gate. What a disorganized mess!
6:30- plane took off for Paris. We didn't have any issues with our bags like a lot of people did !
9:44- very, very rough landing in Paris. Cloudy and foggy day
10:15-bus departed for downtown Paris.
11:30- arrived to Paris and it was a beautiful, sunny day!!!!
11:45- walked to the metro station and the line to get tickets was ridiculously long. It took about 30 minutes to wait in the one line to buy tickets that didn't even have English as an option. Finally got the tickets and took the metro to the stop that was near our hotel
12:30- showed up to the place where google led us to from the address of the hotel. A local could tell we were lost and wandering and offered to help. She looked at the address and said there was no street name. She led us to a place she thought it was around and wished us luck. After lugging our backpacks around for about an hour we were so tired and decided to just call the hotel. We are so fortunate that Tsulls has a data plan. They emailed us a step by step (a scavenger hunt) on how to get our key to go to the hotel.
"1. Go to this little room and use the following code to get in and the key will be there at 5 pm.
2. Once you get the key, walk about 5 blocks to the hotel"
There is absolutely no way we would have made it to this hotel without that phone call.
1:15- FINALLY we made it to the little room to drop our luggage off at.
The room was filled with luggage. We felt a little funny leaving our things there so we took all of our valuables with us, freshened up, and headed out.
We thought since we had such a rough morning we could treat ourselves to a yummy lunch. We chugged down the water when we found out it was free, unlike Rome.
We sat for about an hour eating and people watching. Every single girl was wearing a dress and were tall, slender, and beautiful. I noticed that on the way in, so of course, I had to fit in and I put on a dress before we left the room.
Our next stop was Saint Eustache.
It was beautiful. I even learned about the structure of the church from Tom (I like being friends with engineers). Outside was an African reggae musician just catching everyone's attention because he sang with such a powerful voice. Of course I fell in love.
We then walked around the Louvre and figured out our plan for tomorrow.
5:00-we headed back to the room to pick up our luggage and took it to the hotel. The hotel looked a little sketchy, down a weird alley way.
Here were the directions:
1. Use the key fob to open the door
2. Go up the stairs, take the first left (which leads us down a hallway that is less than 6 feet tall), go up 4 flights of stairs and use the key on the first door on your right.
8:30- we woke up from a super long nap that we all needed and headed out to get dinner
10- made it to the Eiffel Tower just in time to see it light up at ten. Sat in a grassy area and drank wine and ate crackers, cheese, salami, and bread. It was a beautiful view of the Eiffel Tower and we saw the light show ( when the tower sparkles). Seeing the tower was one of those things I was wanting to see but when I actually saw it, I had the chills. It was pretty incredible.
^notice the Eiffel Tower?
12:30- stopped at a bar and had a beer. Great walk home. We made some new friends ( from France and Canada). We came across the Arc de Triomphe!
2 am-Bed time because long day ahead of us tomorrow
