I ran down by the harbor and then tried to avoid the busy parts of the city but it seemed inevitable. I probably only ran for a mile and a half and then just walked around (feeling extremely lost), taking pictures of the city and people watching.
I just took a lot of pictures and went home and asked Marike where I had been. It was super easy to get lost because I knew that when I wanted to go back to Marikes apartment all I had to do was ask someone where the train station was and I would know my way from there.
Art museum- you can go to the top and see the city of Århus in rainbow colors.
We planned to make it back by 12:15 and I had no problem with that. I was pretty proud of my directional ability.
Then we headed out for the day to Marikes handball couches garden house. She kept asking me what they are called in the USA and to be honest, I don't think they even exist in the USA.
It is a large piece of land and people own little yards with a tiny house to just have a garden and hang out in during the summer. It is right in the city but you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere because you are so excluded.
This is the garden house we were invited to today. We walked down a little gravel path with beautiful gardens to each side and arrived to a little gate with the house and yard.
We just laid out in the sun and relaxed, enjoying the summer day.
Marikes friends joined us later in the day and we had a BBQ (using the most vintage grill I have ever seen). It was awesome.
Here is Marike (on the right) and her good friends, Nete & Stine.
It's really funny to sit at the table and when they go off in Danish tangents to just guess what they are talking about, sometimes I am pretty dang close. They also get a kick out of teaching me Danish words. At least I can make them laugh somehow!! Ha :)
We are home now and I am trying to plan another mini trip from Denmark between August 1-18 so if anyone has any ideas I would love to hear them :)
